MFinancial did not have a functioning intranet application for brokers to do business with over 100 member firms. They were paper and phone call based when I began the process of collecting data. I was brought in for 5 months to create the intranet design and portal application that would transition their business to an online repository. The application was to manage hundreds of documents, introduce new financial products and track broker commissions.
In the R&D phase, I assembled committees — a lead from each department to collect, edit and assemble the content for their respective departments. The departments were Accounts, Compliance, RIA, Investment Advisory, New Products Marketing Group. Each weekly meeting goal was to inform the Information architecture for spatial requirements as well as technology for upcoming needs.
Requirements Analysis, Task Analysis, User Profiles: I used Visio for the wireframes and weekly digital sketches of the new architecture that integrated the company brand kit and the native visuals of the content manager, Rhythmix. The technology strategy was negotiated between my approved design by MFin. stakeholders and the Rythmix lead. He created a custom approach for the content manager to handle many documents. The end result was well integrated with the new design and 6 different user profiles.
The interaction architecture included some fun bells and whistles like RIA at a Glance, SEC Info. Third party links like FIS, Net Xchange Pro. Also a mutual funds analyzer, a stock ticker and all forms for brokers to do business with MFinancial. The visual design was a version of the MBrand integrated with a savvy flash design.
MFinancial now has an integrated brand that represents quality for its wealth management clients. The MSecurities online web application downloads forms, tracks commissions, introduces new financial products and provides the ability to handle complex compliance assurance amongst other functions.
